The "robe" below is composed of several pre-embroidered panels attached to a buckram band. In the Tirocchi shop, curators found this sketch, which depicts a coat made from this "robe" and is meant to show the dressmakers how to put the pieces together. The pattern on the taffeta "robe" reflects the influence of the Wiener Werksttäte (Vienna Workshops), which produced modernist fashions using a vocabulary of grids and abstract flowers akin to the embroidered ornament on this coat.
