This textile is a "robe," a length of silk that was embroidered
and beaded by the manufacturer in advance, ready for the dressmaker
to cut out and sew into a "chemise"-style 1920s dress. Large-scale
moderne floral medallions combine with an allover ground pattern
found in many Chinese silks in this "robe."
