This "robe" (pre-embellished fabric length meant to be cut out and sewn into a chemise dress) shows North African influence in its brilliant coloring, geometric pattern, and tassel ornament. "Robes" were a convenience for dressmakers, who could obtain an elaborate finish by sewing two ready-embroidered panels together instead of having to bead and embroider each one individually.
